Soma exists to help everyone Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose & Make a Difference
Better Together
We believe that following Jesus leads us to a place of uncommon unity where we lay aside the labels that usually divide us for something much more life giving.
"For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ."
1 Corinthians 12:12
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10
Our Vision
Uncommon Unity
Before we had a name we had a direction. We prayed about what kind of church we would become and the Lord told us that we were going to be a church of ‘Uncommon Unity’. Set apart with both diversity and a shared vision of unity in Jesus. The verse that this vision came from was 1 Corinthians 12:12 that says 'Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. '
Soma was launched on September 9, 2018 when it opened its doors to 403 people on the first Sunday, a day when 17 people made a decision for Christ. Ever since then Soma has seen God move in powerful ways seeing over 1700 people make a decision to follow Jesus to date. Today Soma meets in two locations and has purchased its first property which will be the future first permanent location of Soma.
Soma is a proud partner of ARC (Association of Related Churches) and has been since before the church began.

Soma Church was pioneered by Michael and Brooke and a small tribe of faithful servant leaders in the fall of 2018. Though the church has grown and the dreams are big, the focus has stayed the same - help impact others with the life changing message of Jesus. Michael and Brooke live in Hickory, NC and have five daughters, Anna, Emily, Natalie, Rachel, and Zoe Hope (who is in heaven), and a son, Solomon.
