What is Only God.?

• Only God. is the name of our building campaign fund. It’s called ‘Only God.’ as a reminder that this project is a miracle opportunity for us and for our community. Psalms 127 says ‘unless the Lord builds the house the builders labor in vain’. 

 

I already tithe, should I participate in Only God.?

• We know that the new testament church gave sacrificially to advance the gospel above and beyond the “tithe”. Since the new building will benefit our entire church family including those who are not even here yet, our hope is that 100% of all who call Soma Church home would participate in this building project at whatever level you can to make more room to reach more people! Pray, Prepare and Participate through giving. 

 

What if I don’t have much to give, will it make a difference?

• All financial contributions, regardless of size, make a huge difference. If everyone contributes their portion, the cumulative effect is so much greater than just those who give large amounts. For everyone who calls Soma home, we ALL have a part to play. Many members, one body. 

• Contributions no matter the size always have an impact and make a difference. We’re where we are as a church because of the sacrifices of many. 

 

What is Overflow?

• Overflow is our giving platform that automates and streamlines the process of giving ACH, credit, debit, stock and crypto, while also tracking giving amounts, individual donors, and fund allocation.

• Giving stock and crypto is the most tax efficient way to give, reducing capital gains taxes for the donor and maximizing value for the nonprofit. Overflow understands the responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of donors’ data. We comply with globally recognized data protection standards like SOC 2 Type

GIVING

 

How do I designate my gift?

• If you give online through our website, make sure you use the Only God. fund.

• If you give by check, please write “Only God. fund” or ‘Building fund” in the memo line.

• If you give by an alternative method, please contact our Finance Team at accounting@soma.church so that your gift is designated to the Only God. Campaign.

 

Should I redirect my regular tithes and contributions to the ‘Only God.’ Campaign?

No. We are asking that you give to the ‘Only God.’ building campaign in addition to, not instead of, your regular tithes and contributions to our general fund since we use normal giving to operate the ministry of the church. 

 

 

Can I create a recurring giving schedule online?

Yes, you can create an online giving schedule with a weekly or monthly frequency.  You can also process one-time gifts online as well.

 

 

How do I view or modify my commitment?

You can view your Only God. commitment through your personal giving login through Overflow.  If you have questions or would like to edit your commitment, you can email our Finance team at accounting@soma.church

 

 

Are gifts to the Only God. Campaign tax deductible?

Yes, all gifts to the Only God. Building Campaign are tax deductible charitable contributions, and they will be included on your year-end giving statement.

 

 

Do you accept other kinds of contributions besides cash, check, or credit card payments?

We are able to accept many kinds of non-cash gifts, including stock donations, donor-advised fund grants, and qualified charitable distributions from an IRA account.  We also partner with organizations like National Christian Foundation to facilitate complex gifts, such as donations of real estate, business interests, personal property, restricted securities, estate gifts, retirement plans, and life insurance. CONSTRUCTION

What architectural firm are we using?

• We are partnering with LS3P for architectural services. Find more info here

 

Who is the construction team?

• A team from Moss Marlow serves as the general contractor for the project. Find more info here.

What is the sequencing, timeline, and cost of the projects?

Total projected cost for Phase 1 upfit - $5.7M (breakdown below)

 

• Priority 1: Demolition and removal of second floor cement slab to create 2nd floor mezzanine ($700k)

• Priority 2: Electrical, Mechanical & Plumbing renovations on floors 1-3 to allow for programming for Soma Kids, Common Restrooms, Cafe, Prayer Room, Dream Team HQ, Next Steps (additional $2.3M)

• Priority 3: Finish the remainder of phase 1 buildout including flooring, new interior walls/layout, ceilings, any finishes (additional $2.7M) 

• Soma Kids, Restrooms, Common areas and parking are the priorities for phase 1 part of this project. 

 

Any remaining money raised above the $6M Phase 1 goal will be allocated to Phase 2 for the following: 

• A main auditorium designed to serve a growing church family (seating capacity determined by response to phase 1 opening)  

• AVL upfit and renovations to the main auditorium. 

• Indoor playground for Soma Kids lobby.

• Finish office space and studio space on 4th floor

• Additional design to the grounds including parking, landscaping etc. 

 

 

COMMUNICATION

 

How can we find out more information about the Only God. project?

• We have and will continue to communicate about the Only God. project through multiple avenues including prayer nights, Vision Sundays, sermon series, digital media like Soma News and our website, one-on-one conversations, and this FAQ.

• We will update the Only God. landing page regularly and notify the church through the Soma app and weekend services.
